SEAT Cupra Championship: DONINGTON 9-10 April 2005
Chris Egginton reports: Not having raced a front wheel drive or turbo charged car before, Donington was always going to be a tough weekend for me.Testing had been difficult due to the poor weather in March; however we had managed a few good days at Snetterton and Silverstone.

I then came down with a bad cold (Man Flu!) and didn't feel 50% for either race. In both races I was too cautious off the line and lost a lot of time in the first corner, especially in race one when I had to take to the grass at Redgate to avoid an incident. I had a quiet race and finished 8th.
I was frustrated that I wasn't able to pull up on to the main pack, but with single make racing it's hard to make up any time when the cars are so closely matched.
Race 2 was disappointing. |

After another slow start I struggled to keep a consistent pace and overdrove the car in an attempt to get back in touch with the main pack. I was not driving particularly well and let Mike Doble make an easy pass into Redgate. However I just held off Alan Blencowe to hold onto 11th as we both took to the grass on opposite sides of the track going through the chicane.
Donington was always going to be a difficult weekend for me, with the situation being made worse by a severe bout of man flu!
It was good to get more time in the car and start to learn to race the car properly, like the rear wheel drive cars I have been used to.
