2004 FINAL ROUND:
Donington Park, 23 / 24 October

Morris leads in the wet
Peter Morris pulls out a dominate lead ahead
of John Williams & Richard Lambert in the
wet race on Saturday

Peter Morris wins Class 1 Michelin
Porsche Club Championship title

Michelin Porsche Club Championship:
Rounds 16 & 17

Peter Morris came away from the last round of the Porsche Club season with pole, fastest lap and two race wins - as well as playing his points doubling joker.
This dominance at his home circuit clinched him the Class 1 Championship win in his debut season. Not only did he clean up, but achieved the results in true 'Mad Morris' style!
Race 1 on Saturday started in torrential rain, "The 911's have a reputation for being better off the line" explained Morris "but my sprinting experience paid off once again as I got a demon start - I don't think Ian White or John Williams were expecting it!"
Morris went on to lead from lights to flag, as Williams & White battled over 2nd place.
Race 2 on Sunday was a spectacular end to the season. Peter Morris, John Williams and Tony Brown were pushing hard and all three took the lead during the 25 minute race. On the final lap through Goddards Brown was leading when he braked late and went wide, he span across the track and he & John Williams spun onto the grass on the pit straight. In an attempt to avoid them Morris also ended up spinning. With the chequered raised it was a case of who could get off the rain sodden grass first!
"It was an amazing end to an adrenaline packed race" said an exuberant Morris afterwards "I managed to get my front wheels back onto the track but the car spun around, so I slammed it into reverse and floored it, just as Tony was heading towards me and the chequered flag; I beat him by just two tenths of a second!"

Michelin Porsche Open Series
Rounds 16 & 17:

The weather was to affect both races in the final Porsche Open event of the 2004 season.
Race 1 took place in torrential conditions. Series dominator Richard Chamberlain was sidelined after a wheel came off in the early stages and Rupert Lewin's GT2R encountered difficulties in the conditions when he slithered off at the Old Hairpin, twice. Rod Carman [GT3] and Paul Livesey [GT2] both took a turn in the lead but couldn't hold out, both spinning off.

Henry Firman in his Class 2 GT3 stepped up to take the lead and managed to hold out in the deteriorating conditions to clinch his first race win. Livesey took 2nd, while Trakshare's Philip Taysom, who was competing in his first race to raise money for Cancer Research took a delighted 3rd.
Race 2 on Sunday started wet, but quickly dried leaving the field split depending on tyre choices. Richard Chamberlain came through from the back to win, a lap up on Rupert Lewin in 2nd and Paul Livesey 3rd.
