Lambert & Eacock
Richard Lambert adds two further wins
to his Championship campaign.
Michelin Porsche Club Championship:
Rounds 14 & 15

Class 2's Richard Lambert [Carrera 3] added two further Class wins to his dominant season in Porsche Club to bring him closer to winning the overall Club Championship title for 2004. Lambert  almost clinched a race victory in race 1 when he battled with Ian White [3.2 Carrera] to finish in 2nd place, just .22 seconds behind. Peter Morris nursed his 968CS around for the 30 minute race with gearbox problems to finish 3rd on the road.
Returning to the Club Championship was Class 2's Rob Williams and Colin Ingram. Williams, who had been closely challenging Lambert on points, went out after an accident at the Porsche Festival in August. Ingram was back with a 911 Club Sport, after a heavy accident at Brands Hatch with his 911SC in September.
Also Rod Carman made a welcome return to Class 1 with his 3.2 Carrera finishing 4th in Class for Sunday's race, after problems in race 1 put him out 2 laps from the end.
Sadly missing from the grid was the 968CS of Chris Egginton, who had qualified on pole but suffered a heavy impact on the exit of Eau Rouge, writing off his plans to get back into the running for the Championship.
Ian White [3.2 Carrera] and Peter Morris [968CS] drove a superb second race, after their respective gearbox problems from the previous day had been fixed. They battled close and hard for the full 45 minute race distance, to cross the line just .21 seconds apart, giving White his second victory of the weekend.
Class 3 was again dominated by the 944 of Fraser Robertson, however when his car was deemed to be underweight after race 2, the victory was awarded to Club Championship debutee Paul Goldman [911SC].

Cook & Chamberlain
Peter Cook & Richard Chamberlain put on
a great show in race 1 at Spa

Michelin Porsche Open Series
Rounds 14 & 15:

Race 1 saw a fantastic battle between the dominant 935 of Richard Chamberlain and the GT2 of Peter Cook. The pair raced side by side for the full 30 minutes, with Chamberlain just clinching the win on the last lap.
A start line incident saw the Class 2 GT3's of Craig Rapp and Jason Young make contact, with Rupert Lewin [GT2R] unfortunate to pick up a puncture from the debris. Young had to pit for a wheel change, but drove superbly to finish 2nd from Rapp after taking Henry Firman's GT3 on the last lap.
In Class 3 Paul Howells [993 Supercup] enjoyed a good weekend at Spa, being the only Porsche Open driver to pick up two Class wins, just ahead of the father/son pairing of Mike and Steve Burtt who each finished 2nd to Howells.
Sundays race saw Cook missing from the starting line up after suffering engine problems as he crossed the line the day before. Lewin, who was starting from 10th swept through the field to 2nd by the end of the first lap. Chamberlain had pulled out a decent 13 second lead, but was struggling with gearbox problems and Lewin was soon pushing for the lead. Chamberlain eventually retired, leaving Lewin to enjoy the win, with Stuart Scott [GT3] claiming 2nd in Class 1, behind the Class 2 GT3's of Young, Rapp and Firman.
Class 4 saw the return of Alex Eacock [944] who enjoyed some great close racing with 944 rival Tim Bevan, with Beven clinching the win in race 1. James Clare's 924S once again put in a strong battle and was leading the Class in race 2, however a miscalculation of the time remaining meant he gave Eacock the opportunity to claim the win, with Bevan retiring early.
