Pembrey  -  24th / 25th August

Michelin Porsche Club Championship - double-header:
The double header round at Pembrey proved to be a 911 event, which brought mixed race results.
Race 1 - Sunday:
Following a dry qualifying session, the first race started just after the heavens had opened and soaked the track.
The changing track conditions meant that the results on the road were split between the Classes. Colin Broster
(Class 1, 3.2 Carrera) took his second win of the season, followed just over 2 seconds later by John Williams (Class
3, 911E) who had driven an outstanding race from 11th on the grid and claimed the fastest lap of the race. 3rd
place went to David Rothwell (Class 2, 911 SC). Behind them finished a Class 1 battle with Ian White holding off
his team mate Tony Brown, followed by a hard fought Class 2 battle between Rob Williams and Richard Lambert.
Race 2 - Monday:
The grid was formed on Sundays results which put Colin Broster, who's currently 2nd in the championship points
ahead of leader Tony Brown, who started from 5th. However Browns' weekend got worse when he spun out on cold
tyres on the first lap at Brooklands Hairpin.
The dry track conditions meant John Williams didn't enjoy the opportunities he'd had the day before and although he defended hard, he couldn't hold off the quicker Class 1 and 2 cars of White, Rothwell and Lambert, who went
on to finish 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively behind race winner Colin Broster.

Michelin Porsche Open Series:
With Porsche Opens Class 1 dominator Richard Chamberlain not competing at Pembrey, Rupert Lewin (996 GT2)
enjoyed a trouble-free 24 laps to take his first victory of the season. Nick James also enjoyed an unopposed race in
Class 2 and pushed his 996 GT3 hard to try and keep up with Lewin.
In Class 3 Peter Morris (964 RS) and Henry Firman (993) battled for the full 24 laps, with Morris holding Firman off
to win the Class by just 1 second. Porsche Open rookie Martin Dodge retired on lap 2 with a mechanical fault.

The bank holiday race meeting at Pembrey didn't feature very highly on the
local or motorsport photographers calendars, so to ensure we could bring you
the action shots we know you love, teamgvr.com gave team manager Gordon
the additional job of "taking a few snaps for the web site"... we think you'll
agree he did a good job for his first time!

Nick James - oops!

Latest news:

Class 3 battle Morris & Firman battle it out!     25.08.03
Henry Firman is enjoying the benefits of a great race set up after bringing his
993 to be prepared by Gordon at Team GVR. Fellow Class 3 runner and Team
GVR stable mate Peter Morris had his work cut out to hold Firman off during the
24 lap race at Pembrey this weekend. Both drivers said afterwards that they'd
enjoyed some good competitive racing, and with Firman finishing just one
second behind Morris and only  0.1 second between their best lap times there's
bound to be more fun (and hopefully not tears) ahead!

Porsche Club GB event at Eynsham Hall   30-31.08.03
Porsche Club GB are staging their annual national event next weekend at Eynsham Hall in Oxfordshire, and celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 911.

Team GVR's Paul Howells and Henry Firman will be there supporting the Porsche Motorsport display with their 993's - if you're going drop by and
say hi!
